How does Botox work?
Using a very fine needle, Botox is injected into the facial muscles near your troublesome areas. Botox relaxes the muscle and keeps it from moving. The injected muscle can no longer contract, causing the wrinkles to soften while also helping to prevent new ones from forming.
How long does it take for Botoxto work?
Botox is known as a lunchtime procedure—the actual injections take only 10 minutes! Results generally don't show up for 24–48 hours, however, your skin may look noticeably smoother within a week, with optimal results showing up after a month.
How long does Botox lasts?
The strongest effects of Botox will last 4 to 6 months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear and need to be treated again. Over time and multiple injections, lines and wrinkles often appear less severe because the muscles are shrinking.
First-time receiving Botox?
As a first-time Botox user, it’s important to be mindful that your first experience is not likely to result in optimal, long-lasting results. It can take multiple Botox treatments before your muscles become conditioned and respond to the treatment. Results last longer after several sessions, as the skin has more time to regenerate the collagen it needs to fill in those lines and wrinkles.
What is the optimal age to begin receiving Botox?
Your smile or frown lines may appear while you’re expressing yourself, but they generally go away when the face is relaxed. Once the lines start to stick around at rest, that's when you can consider getting your first Botox treatments. Botox is not necessary until those lines become lasting creases or wrinkles. In some, this may be in the mid-twenties, while in others, after age thirty.
The most appropriate age to start Botox will depend on a number of things including your lifestyle. For many in Florida, exposure to the sun may lead to a treatment at thirty, however, those who may not have sun damage, may reach 35 or 40.
Is Botox Safe?
Botox has been FDA approved for its safety and efficacy. In fact, it’s the most widely performed aesthetic procedure around the world.
